City Council's intention was to create a local police unit to patrol bike , with the aim of which is responsible for monitoring the violations committed in the bike lane. In addition, these agents could also patrol frequently through the pedestrian streets of the city. For this, the local government thought of one of the old kiosks Murillo Gardens municipal property, as an ideal place to establish the headquarters of this unit, because of its proximity to the monumental areas of the city as its connection to the main cycle routes.
Specifically, we chose the kiosk bar the South, which had for years been closed and used as a shelter for the homeless and drug addicts to the drug. After cleaning the building and approving a project, work began last summer. The budget for the works was 219,000 euros and running within four months, as evidenced by the sign of the work that is still in place, although the work is suspended for months.
The project consisted of structural rehabilitation of the building and would be promoted by the City. The funding would by the Central Government, namely the state fund for employment and local sustainability, the Ministry of Land Policy.
Work was late when they stopped, because the building has been completely renovated and the new structure is already built. Now, a mesh surrounding the property to prevent it from being used by drug addicts and homeless people but there is no special surveillance.
Meanwhile, the creation of the unit continues to bicyclist is in the air and at the same point four years ago. There is no agent that has shown its willingness to join this group and bicycles and helmets to be purchased are all of the same size. The vehicles are dismantled and stored in boxes and have no use for four years, with the consequent damage to its components.
